Reservoir was thoroughly cleaned and painted with a high heat engine paint. The power steering pump was professionally rebuilt and was installed into the replacement replica housing/reservoir. There are no major dings/dents in the reservoir. The lip around the front of the housing where pump mounts is nice and straight as is the area where the cap mounts, so you are sure to get a good seal. Please look at all pictures as they are part of the description. Please do your own research as we do not offer refunds if it does not fit your vehicle. There is no warranty on pumps unless installed by CJ Auto Parts, due to the fact that most failures are due to improper installation. Loose belt causes hard steering, over tightening the belt can cause premature failure to pump and bearing seal. Low or incorrect fluid can cause premature failure. Failure to flush old contaminated fluid can cause premature failure, etc.
Failure to properly flush the system can lead to binding, poor returnabilty, leaking, hard steering, intermittent assist and noise. MUST use O.E. specified fluid Dextron ATF, not generic power steering fluid. Also, must not clean the steering system with common shop chemicals, which can damage power steering seals. If system was heavily contaminated, a power steering filter can simply be added to the return line.
INSTALLER INSTRUCTIONS: Power steering hoses/lines MUST be free flowing, no blockages or restrictions, and should not be any more than 10-15 years old (rubber does wear on the inside as well as the outside). System MUST be rid of any contaminants. If pump becomes aerated on startup, turn vehicle off until the foam subsides, Severely contaminated power steering systems should have an aftermarket filter installed in the return line for extra protection. Power steering pulley MUST be pressed on with proper installation tool, NOT hammered on, which will cause damage to the pump.
